Journal: Mushroom Farming and Fancy Tea

(Thursday, February 28, 2019, 8:15 am)

Good morning! I slept so well last night.

Right now I’m reading a book called Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World, by Paul Stamets. This is not the first book I’ve read by him. His stuff is pretty technical and very scientific, but also sort of casual and pretty accessible. He REALLY makes me want to start a mushroom farm. It just makes so much sense!

I’m also drinking some delicious new tea. It’s one of the Gryphon teas that I haven’t tried before, Osmanthus Sencha. Isn’t that a lovely name? But the best part is the Tasting Notes on the back of the packet: “A sweet, aromatic honeyed nose leads to bright, sprightly flavours of delicate green tea lifted by the ethereal fragrance of osmanthus flowers, lingered with a creamy finish.” I love that writing! It’s way over the top. You could never use it in a story. But it’s perfect on a tea bag. And it’s a very accurate description of the tea. How splendid!
